Most of last week was a lot of this.
Boring conference rooms. Bad hotel buffets. Sleepy-making speakers.
But on Tuesday, I went rogue.
Due to brilliant planning on my part (and faulty scheduling by someone else) I ended up with an entire day unbooked. If anyone knows what to do with a free day, it's me.
Off to Universal I trekked alone!
It was a magical place. Even the "fruit stands" were different there (unless by "fruit" you typically mean "beer.")
I had a clear goal in mind (you know what it was, right?) but along the way I got distracted a bit in Seussland.
(That's a Lorax behind me.)
I rode the Cat in the Hat ride, and the Caro-Seuss-El.
As I passed deeper into the park, I saw strange and wonderous sights.
I entered Posidon's Fury and witnessed a battle between the gods.
I even got lost in a swamp (beward the dinosaurs!)
But very soon, the signs became clear. My path lay straight ahead.
And then, there it was. My first view of Hogsmead.
To begin, I sought refreshment.
And there, the infamous beverage.
For those wondering about the nature of butterbeer ~ butterscotch soda with a heavy, rich cream topping. Delightful!
And for more taste sensation, I moved right along to Honeyduke's!
Oh, there were so very many shops to see! I ducked into quite a few. Unfortunately the post office wasn't open that day.
The Hogwarts choir was out in full force.
Let me tell you the little known theme park secret....
If you are willing to ride alone, you jump straight to the head of the line every time! This way, I was able to ride the Harry Potter Experience three times in a row!
(of course, then I threw up my butterbeer, but those are the problems one faces when spending the day in a theme park)
