"There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere, and we are all apt to expect too much; but then, if one scheme of happiness fails, human nature turns to another; if the first calculation is wrong, we make a second better: we find comfort somewhere . . . "
- Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
We had Friday night plans - a funky party with friends at a champagne bar! Which just happens to be right across the street from our apartment...so of COURSE we went and took Roman!
We spiffied ourselves up and strolled across the street on an almost-warm spring night. Roman wore his special onsie from Disney! Our little Prince Charming in training!
Roman is getting pretty good at this NYC "hanging out" thing. He stayed awake long enough to be bobbled about by the hostess (she thinks he is Prince Charming already) (we'll always get one of the prime sofas now!) and snuggled by the guest of honor before snoozing away in his carrier. Sure, I'd bet that most parents don't take their babies out on the town at six weeks (exactly!), but...well...we do. And he seems to love it.
(Mostly, I think, he just loves being with us, wherever we are. And that's okay with me.)
While the baby naps, I am able to pull photos from the new camera we took with us to Orlando. This is the replacement camera for the one that died last year in Hawaii, the new camera that we bought while I was in labor. Because we like to let things go down to the wire like that, yo!
Actually, no one in B&H Photo (the go-to place here in the city for purchasing electronics) had any idea that a baby was imminent. We were sly like that. And hey - we'd already sat through a movie (Jurassic Park 3D) and downed a bunch of popcorn and soda. Little Roman wasn't in a hurry so neither were we.
Anyway, the photo onslaught continues.
Ready for lunch, at the Beast's Castle, Disney's Magical Kingdom.
