Served around 9am. I'm trying something a little different. I'm attempting to be healthier. In moderation, of course. Let's see how it goes.
Raw oatmeal, refrigerated overnight with 1/2 container of nonfat vanilla yogurt, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 1 tablespoon Chia seeds, 1 tablespoon cooked wheat berries.
It was a bit gummy. Perhaps more liquid next time. The texture was otherwise okay and it tasted fine, if....boring.
Around 10:45am I started getting hungry and reached for the sad second half of a leftover-but-not-forgotten banana.
I adore old, brown squishy banana, so this little guy was well appreciated.
Served around 2:15pm. Frozen Ethnic Gourmet Chicken Pad Thai. It, too, ended up being dry. My food lacks moisture today!
Served around 9pm - it was a late, late work day. And here I am doing the leftover scramble again. I hate tossing food in the garbage, but seriously, I'd really love to go out for Indian tonight. Or pizza. Or even a nice turkey burger, as long as I don't have to make it.
And I say to myself...Self! Just do it! You are a grown up and can eat what you please! Let there be pizza and ice cream and gummy bears!
Until I remind myself about how foolish it is to spend money to stuff myself with far too many calories. I think about the bikini I just bought and the awesome dress that is one size too small that would rock my world if I could squeeze my flabby butt cheeks into it without ripping out the seam.
But Self! I say...Just this time won't matter! Get up early and go to the gym tomorrow!
But I never do. And Self knows that I never do.
So I dig through the fridge and I find plenty of nice, serviceable foods (which were excellent treats when they beckoned me from the shelves at Whole Foods) and I put together dinner.
Bowtie pasta (left over from an office lunch), cherry tomatoes, spinach, 1/4 of a can of tomatoes, 1 garlic scape, 1/4 cup pinto beans, 1/3 cup chicken, mini-mozzarella balls (also left over from that office lunch).
It was good ~ particularly the cheesy bits. It wasn't what I wanted. I didn't make me giggle or spontaneous break out into hip dance moves. Emma stole some of my chicken. I'll get by.
