(My South Africa Pictures have temporarily been siezed by Ben for upload and review; let's go back and take another look at .... India!)
For our rural marketing MBA class, we not only studied the weaving cooperative, we also studied local businesses in Pochampally.
This woman above represents a large business segment in the rural Indian market. She grows her own fruit or buys it bulk, then walks through town and sells her product for a mark-up to those who don't have the time or inclination to grow their own.
The man below runs a small convenience store-type place in Pochampally. These little shops sell snacks, drinks and very popular single serving toiletries, such as shampoo. These tiny stalls are far more popular than the grocery stores we know.
