I hope you all enjoyed lovely celebrations to welcome the new year and I trust that each of you made offerings of wine and virgins to the New Year Gods so that this year we all might fare better than in the last.
We are now facing what I consider to be the most heartbreaking time of the year. All the glitz and glitter has faded, the trees are wilted, the sparkly lights - extinguished. The bleak white cold has sunk into our bones and a few months of long, frozen nights stretch out before us.
As we sink into the Melancholy Season, we can look back on the fun holiday memories, cling to our wool and tromp across the frozen tundra concrete every day with some hope that the bright warm days of summer will, at some point, return.
