I have given up on double pointed needles. They irk me too much with their fiddliness and pointy devilry to even let me enjoy the knitting process.
So, unable to track down any size 0 circulars in my unkempt stash of needles, after unsuccessfully scouring Stitches East, the sole yarn store to cross my path for several weeks, I took the only recourse possible to get the needles I need to knit up some socks with this glorious yarn that is lounging so patiently on the edge of the sofa ~ I ordered new needles from the internet.
I ordered from Alpaca Direct, in fact, two 24" size 0 circs.
The package arrived on Saturday. Containing....ONE 24" size 0 circular needle.
The receipt said I was supposed to have two. I was charged for two...
I called Alpaca Direct right away and left my info with a very pleasant woman on the phone. Later in the day I receive an email:
Hello Katie, A comment has been added to your Alpaca Direct order #------- as follows: 06/28/08 - Thanks for contacting us about a missing needle from your order. We'll look into this on Monday to get this resolved. Thanks, Jim. You can track the status of your order online by clicking on the link below...
Does anyone have experience ordering from Alpaca Direct? Is this order screw-up an anomaly? Or should I prepare to whip out the old Amex insurance?
In the meantime, since I cannot abide by all the sliding and scooting of magic loop knitting any more than I can handle the double pointed mayhem, I'm stuck. Which will force me to finish those Spooky Bloody Mary's, I guess.
